ONLY THE SKY ABOVE

The open air feel of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is the result of a natural ‘evolutionary development’ that originates from the Coupé version. Its creation is based on very specific technological and stylistic choices that best enhance the feeling of freedom without forsaking any of the 4C Spider's sporting DNA. The transformation of the rear endows it with greater strength and muscularity, the redesigned rear engine cover leaves room for a bonnet and is shaped to house the air intakes, beneath which one can sense the presence of the car's throbbing heart.

INTERIORS

RACING INTERIORS

As with the exterior, everything on the inside has a precise function and expresses the true racing spirit of Alfa Romeo. To start with, the unique body cell is made from a one-piece shell of carbon fibre. The seats incorporate a reinforced composite structure and special lightweight padding. The steering wheel is moulded at the bottom and the controls are all oriented towards the driver. Aluminum pedals and heel guards form the last details of a true sporting character.

Every detail of 4C Spider is conceived to ignite passion for sportiness and open-air driving. The alloy wheels go from 17" to 19", mounted in different sizes on the front and on the rear, to ensure a perfect balance and the best dynamics.
Brembo brake calipers with 4 small pistons are available in 4 colours: grey, black, yellow and, of course, red. The Bi-Xenon headlights, the carbon fibre Halo roll bar (available as optional), the air intakes on the side in carbon fibre, the twin tailpipes, the sporty seats and the single carbon fiber body all go together to make the 4C Spider a small, yet impressive Alfa Romeo masterpiece.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE D.N.A.

Alfa Romeo 4C is designed around the driver. The Alfa D.N.A. selector has three settings (Dynamic, Natural and All Weather) for adapting the car to the road conditions and the current driving style. What’s more, the exclusive Race mode is designed to further enhance the driving experience on the racing track. Selecting the Dynamic position will cut out the stability control system and the ABS, handing full control of the car over to the driver. The full digital instrument panel with TFT display changes configuration to provide the information most pertinent to the specific Alfa D.N.A. setting.

SMALL DISPLACEMENT, GREAT PERFORMANCE

The  four-cylinder, direct injection, 177 kW, 1750 Turbo petrol engine, entirely made of aluminum, brings extraordinary performance with a peak torque of 350 Nm, 80% of which is available at 1700 rpm.  The Alfa Romeo 4C has a top speed in excess of 250 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, a truly remarkable result.

The Alfa Romeo 4C’s advanced scavenging technology maximises torque at low engine speeds and delivers more power in response to driver input.
To implement the scavenging technology, the engine is also equipped with a new generation turbocharger and a pulse converter exhaust manifold.

AFTER RUN PUMP

Like all leading competition cars, the 4C uses an automatic cool-down system to protect its turbocharger. Switching off the engine would normally cause the immediate stoppage of oil circulation, causing a loss of lubrication capacity and possible damage to the engine. With the after-run-pump, the oil keeps circulating through the turbocharger until it has cooled.

THE WEIGHT OF LIGHTNESS

Carbon fibre is the most high-tech material in automotive engineering. The chassis of Alfa Romeo 4C Spider – weighing only 73 kilograms – is a single carbon fibre body. The crankcase and the front and rear frames are made of aluminum, combining solidity and extreme lightness. The outer body is made of SMC composite: a low-density material that combines lightness (it is 20% lighter than steel) and dimensional stability comparable to steel that is superior to aluminum.

PERFECT BALANCE, PERFECT PERFORMANCE

With its mid-engine configuration and extremely sophisticated suspension layout (superimposed wishbone up front, evolved McPherson on the rear), 4C is perfectly balanced and masters the road at any speed. The powerful braking system, with self-ventilating perforated discs and Brembo calipers on the front wheels, allows 4C to stop from 100 km/h to 0 in only 36 metres.  Furthermore, Alfa Romeo 4C fits different diameter tyres on the front and rear, to ensure perfect grip on all types of roads, in any weather.

The total dry weight of the car is only 940 kilograms. This is why Alfa Romeo 4C Spider has one of the lowest weight/power ratio: less than 4 kg/hp. With the comeback of rear-wheel drive configuration, 4C secures a great driving experience and unmistakable racing feel.
